NEWS
February 25, 2006 - LaRue resurfaces with Psalms album
The music scene hasn't seen much of erstwhile pop star Philip LaRue since the duo brandishing his surname released its most recent album four years ago, but that will change with the release of The Message: Psalms, an all-star companion album to Eugene Peterson's popular paraphrase of the Bible.

CCM magazine's home on the web recently published a short feature story about the album, which includes music from Ginny Owens, Over the Rhine, Chris Rice, Rachael Lampa, and Building 429 and separate songs by Philip and sister Natalie in solo mode. Jeremy Casella also performs, sharing a track with Sandra McCracken and Andrew Osenga.

According to the article, Philip got the ball rolling by placing a call to the customer service line at NavPress, which publishes The Message, back in 2004. He eventually got the ear of someone who held sway at the company, and they took to the idea immediately. Notes Dave Urbanski, the article's author, "[T]he fact that NavPress was looking to relaunch The Message with a new verse-numbering system didn’t hurt, either."

LaRue co-produced the album with Monroe Jones, a Grammy winner who has worked with Stevie Nicks and Third Day, and the album will be released via Jones' Eb+Flo Records. More info about the album can be found at its official website.

Reaching - Click to view! REACHING (2002)
The signs of the times show that Christian pop is headed nowhere. In spite of a few very gifted individuals, like Wes King and Nichole Nordeman, the majority of artists get worse by the season, producing pre-fabricated albums of cheese. Now it seems that LaRue, a brother/sister duo I once had much respect for, is dangerously close to joining those ranks. Their third release, Reaching, is sufficient evidence of these claims, and here's why. First of all, Reaching doesn't seem up to par with LaRue's previous two records. Read full review...

TRANSPARENT (2001)
Transparency speaks of a see-through quality, one where shades can be pulled up and lines drawn to reveal something unobserved. Being transparent in a world that screams for a cover of make-up and fashionable comebacks proves to be harder the longer the clock ticks. Siblings Phillip and Natalie LaRue tackle the idea of transparency—a theme not often covered, even in Christian circles—on their new album, Transparent. Read full review...
