SEND THE FIRE (1999)
Recorded live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Send the Fire is filled with burning passion for God and a desire to see the whole world set on fire with the Holy Spirit. Opening with a prayer for people to come to salvation, it leads into "Come, Come, Come." Originally written by MorningStar Music's Don Potter, this song is given an electric vibe through Lindell Cooley's notable keyboard skill and the Brownsville team's electric guitarist; the song ends with Cooley repeating "come to Jesus" many times. Penned by the great Bob Dylan, "Saved" energetically thanks the Lord for God's grace. Written over 100 years ago by William Booth, the people from Brownsville add new life and spirit to the title track, which burns with the request for God to "Send the Fire" of revival upon this nation, this town, and this world. The song features soaring guitar solos and a very crazy drum solo, which is my favorite. Lindell Cooley then re-works the Charles Wesley hymn "And Can It Be That I Should Gain?" with a beautiful, bluesy harmonica, which climaxes in our soul's redemption in the last verse: "My chains fell off, my heart was free ~ I rose went forth and followed Thee." Returning to new anthems of worship, Lindell sings his simple song, "I Need You More", emphasizing that God is the most important part of our life, ending in beautiful impromptu worship of the crowd just singing to the Lord. The music flows into the Vineyard song, "All I Want", repeating the chorus "and all I want is more and more of You." Picking up the pace, the Scott Underwood song "You Are In Control" begins, surrendering our life and reminding us that all of our life is in God's hands. The Brownsville Worship team then soulfully plays their arrangement of "Glory, glory, hallelujah ~ Since I laid my burden down," again spotlighting the awesome harmonica. Send The Fire also features the American premiere of Matt Redman's anthem "Heart of Worship," though it's titled "When the Music Fades". Now recognized as one of the church's greatest new songs, Cooley's rendition is very good, especially his addition of "It's not about Baptist or Assembly of God or Catholic ~ It's all about You." The keyboard-driven "Spirit and the Bride" calls to the Lord to "come quickly." Rejoicing in a great night of worship, the disc closes with the "Enemy's Camp / Look What The Lord Has Done" medley, rejoicing in the fact that "I went to the enemy's camp ~ And I took back what he stole from me ~ He's under my feet," and further exclaiming "Look what the Lord has done ~ He healed my body ~ He touched my mind ~ He saved me just in time." Engulfed in the blazing fire of the Holy Spirit, the worship team of the Brownsville Assembly of God bring the house down with their passionate and energetic worship.
